This shrine is dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami and is known as Moto-Ise Naiku (Original Inner Shrine) because, according to tradition, it was established here 54 years before Ise Grand Shrine was located in Mie Prefecture. The main hall is built in the same Shinmei-zukuri style as Ise Grand Shrine, with a thatched roof.
